Family policies

What families ask before the first class.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

In the pool, and watching

An adult is in the water with every child in every class: a parent, a grandparent or a caregiver. The instructor leads from the step or beside you and shows each family what to try. Other family members wait on the deck bench, away from the edge. Lessons are no substitute for adult supervision.

What to wear and bring

Swim shirts are welcome in every class. Children under 3 wear a snug swim diaper under a swimsuit or swim shirt. Adults wear swimwear they can move in. Tie long hair back, and bring a towel for each of you and a change of clothes for afterward.

When to keep your child home

Please keep your child home with a fever, a stomach bug or anything that spreads, and tell us so we can offer a make-up class. If you are unwell yourself, the same goes for you.

Closures for weather and holidays

The recreation center closes the pool on holidays and for its own maintenance, and we text families as soon as we know. A class missed because the pool was closed is made up in the same session.

Leaving the program

Please give us two weeks' notice before your family leaves, so we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist. What happens to a session in progress is on the enrollment page.

Brothers, sisters and friends on the deck

Brothers, sisters and friends are welcome on the deck bench. Please keep them away from the pool's edge, and keep strollers by the wall.

Screens and phones

Please keep phones in a bag or a pocket near the water. Photos of other families' children are not allowed on the deck.
